Origin - Native to U.S. and Mexico.

Other info. - This species can be found mainly in northwestern Missouri but it can also be found in a handful of counties spread across the state. The plant can be identified by its spreading pubescent stems, oblong to lanceolate leaves, and small flowers. The petals of the flowers can be white to pink.
G. parviflora is a biennial species which typically forms a single stem from the base. The stem branches much in the inflorescence. Another species, G. coccinea Pursh, is less common in Missouri. This latter species is a perennial plant which typically has many stems arising from the base of the plant. It can be found growing amongst the loess hills of northwestern Missouri.
