Habitat - Bottomland and upland prairies, ledges of bluffs, glades, sinkhole margins, fens, roadsides, railroads, fallow fields.

Origin - Native to U.S.

Other info. - This attractive grass is probably the easiest species of Panicum to identify in Missouri. The villous stems and leaf sheaths are easily spotted even at a great distance. The glabrous band below each node is characteristic also. The plant is worthy of cultivaion.
