Other info. - This wide-leaved species can be found mainly in the Ozark region of Missouri but also in more northern counties which border rivers. The plant is probably the easiest of the Carex species to identify in the field because of its habitat and very wide leaves (which are the largest of any Missouri species). The hooked beak of the fruits is also a good character to look for.
