Habitat - Sandy open fields, open ground, cultivated fields, roadsides, railroads.

Origin - Native of the Old World tropics.

Other info. - This large and showy species can be found in just a handful of scattered Missouri counties. It was first introduced into the state by farmers as a cover crop and has since escaped.
The big yellow flowers and many seeds make this plant an easy and showy cultivated annual.
