Habitat - Mesic to dry woods, savannas, upland prairies, disturbed sites, roadsides, railroads.

Origin - Native to the U.S.

Other info. - This hairy sedge is common throughout Missouri except in the extreme northwest corner of the state. It has relatively thin, long leaves which are hairy on both surfaces.
A synonym is C. complanata var. hirsuta (L.H. Bailey) Gleason.
